You may already have broken your New Year's Resolutions, but don’t beat yourself up. Self-leadership is about living intentionally NOT perfectly. Each morning get up, and set a new intention to be a little better today; over time the results will astound you.
Self-leadership intentions are the rules we set for ourselves. If you want some inspiration, here's a list:
Self-leadership is the practice of intentionally influencing your thinking, feeling, and actions toward your objectives (Bryant and Kazan 2012). The key here is that it is a practice. We are all at the mercy of the algorithm of our D.N.A. and our early conditioning, but with practice and self-awareness, we get better at self-regulation, through learning about ourselves and our environment.
Psychologists have come to the conclusion that we have very little free will but when we set an intention, we change the chains of events that have been our life up until this point.
As a motivational speaker, I am expected to motivate an audience to take action. I fulfill this expectation by inspiring the audience to set their own intentions, to be the driver of their life and career, and to say, "NO" to just being a passenger.
